Outstanding Owls

The word raptor came from a Latin word rapere, meaning to grab or seize by force. Owls are raptors. Some owls of North America are vermiculated owl, flammuated owl, and a lot more. The smallest owl is called the elf owl. The largest owl is the great gray owl. They eat mice, snakes, and other animals. Elf owls sleep inside a cactus. The great horned owl sleeps in a tree. Great gray owl sleeps in a nest. Eastern screech owl sleeps inside a tree trunk. A baby owl is called an owlet. Owlets break out of their shell using an egg tooth. The egg tooth is not a tooth. It is found on the tip of a owlet's beak. A group of baby owls is called a brood. Owls are nocturnal beings, meaning, they sleep during the day and are active at night.
